Andy Warhol movies are highly misunderstood. Which adds to their brilliance. Firstly being, just about none have been written or directed by Andy Warhol. And most people tend to believe all of them are bad. I think most all of them are pretty great. The Morrissey trilogy Flesh, Trash, and Heat always have gotten the big hub-bub. Which are great – as well as the other Warhol/Morrissey 70′s inceptions including Frankenstein and Dracula and so forth.
But, let’s talk Bad the final film produced by the Andy Warhol studios in 1977, directed by Jed Johnson. This is a much over-looked classic of the Andy Warhol films. No Joe Dallesandro no Holly Woodlawn or Candy Darling. But, one can not overlook this wonderful piece of cinema. Gear up for a “splattering” of what feels like a real-life-tale in what could be anywhere-USA circa 1977.
Hazel (Carroll Baker) runs an electrolysis/ female hit-man service when L.T. played by Perry King enters the picture a man who wants employment and a place to stay.
Susan Tyrell plays the very emotional Mary Aiken Hazel’s daughter-in-law also lives at the headquarters with her baby.
Hot hit women and a masterfully, quote worthy, script if you ask me. This story was written by Warhol crew’s Pat Hackett and George Abagnalo. I don’t want to give you any more and be a spoiler but, this Warhol production is a very ambitious classic. Do yourself a favor and check this one out.
